What is the Security Maintenance Team responsible for?

The Security Maintenance (SM) team within the Investment Accounting and Operations (IAO) department is responsible for the creation and maintenance of security data for all asset classes (U.S. domestic and international) covering various security types such as Fixed Income, Money Market, and Equity that are used in multiple internal downstream applications. Security data is retrieved from outside vendors such as Bloomberg, ICE, etc. and ensures the security data is accurately entered/represented in the Enterprise Security Master System prior to sending the information downstream to our internal clients, researches and resolves exceptions for new securities originated during the setup process and ensuring that static / reference data is accurately maintained on the systems post performing quality checks.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of Security Maintenance Analyst?

• Create/Open new Institutions (Issuers) and Instruments (securities) in the Enterprise Security Master System within SLAs.
• Perform non-complex maintenance tasks.
• Escalate all issues promptly and effectively to seniors and supervisors as needed.
• Research, input, and validate security indicative data on various internal databases and systems.
• Participate in discussions regarding data quality issues and other process challenges in order to learn how the various tasks / controls fit together.
• Participate in projects around data cleanups initiatives under Senior/Team lead supervision.
• Identify and initiate workflow improvements.
• Compile daily metrics for the following:

1. Vendor quality
2. Monthly success measures
3. Activity log reporting
4. Daily productivity report

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

• Ability to gather and research information from external sources, resolve problems, and work well in daily deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to work on multiple problems at the same time and to keep all appropriate personnel apprised of current activity and events.
• Excellent customer service skills (interacting with various external and internal contact persons).
• Solid knowledge of the financial markets and various security types.
• Requires the ability to work with portfolio managers and external sources to ensure that up-to-date information is maintained on all security masters.
• One to three years of financial experience in securities/investment business.

Special Skills:

• Proficient in MS Office Applications (intermediate excel preferred).
• Strong technical and analytical skills.
• Intermediate understanding of different security types (i.e. stocks, bonds and derivatives).
• Experienced in using a Bloomberg Terminal (preferred).
• Ready to work from 2.00 to 10.30 p.m.
